Happy 2026 to everyone… Make sure this year is a healthy one…
We are always looking for new volunteers. Join us. We have many of our Canadian friends from Ocean Waterway that participate. We’d really love to have the same here on the west side of Dania Beach.
CRIME REPORT: A Dania Beach deputy was on a car stop when he heard gunshots. He saw an individual running and stopped him. It turns out that was a domestic violence incident. The suspect fired multiple shots at the mother of his two kids. They were also in the line of fire. He was charged with three counts of attempted murder.
This past week, Detective Eric Hoff was presented a bronze sculpture of an American Bald Eagle at the city Commission Meeting. I was very proud to attend along with Patrica Tyra. We capped off the retirement week for Detective Hoff with more than 30 deputies and several command staff for a special luncheon at the Estates of Ft Lauderdale Monte Carlo Room. We finished up with lunch at the Outback. My very close good friend is leaving a huge void with his well-deserved retirement.
FIRE REPORT: In November, Dania Beach BSO Fire Rescue responded to 653 calls. In December, that number ballooned to 775 calls. 657 were medical while 118 were fire related. Dania Beach Fire Rescue continues to be busier than any other city in Broward County. Our first responders remain the best there is.
Be safe. Stay hydrated. The BSO non-emergency number is (954) 764-4357 and as always you can use 911. Keep in mind, they want you to call.
If you see something, say something, do something!
Leslie Kevles, Captain
BSO, Dania Beach C.O.P.
